Photojournalism

Taken by: Adm Golub
This is a picture from the San Bruno fire. This San Francisco State university photojournalism student took this picture. His picture as well as others in his class's pictures were in the San Francisco Chronicle the morning after the fire. This picture shows how big the fire was and also how hard the firemen are working. This picture puts you in the place of the fire.

This picture was taken after 9/11. I found this picture on TIME's website. This picture was in an album called "shattered". In this picture it shows how bad the ashes were after 9/11 was taken place. It shows how people are struggling and how they have to wear masks and walk through the town they used to call home.

Photo taken by: Benjamin Sklar.
This is a photo taken after hurricane Katrina. Volunteers try to rescue the Taylor family from the roof of their car. Floodwaters overpowered and trapped the car on U.S. Highway 90 in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The family was safely rescued. This picture shows how much the hurricane affected people in Mississippi. It shows you a visual of how bad it was and how hard it was for people to even get away from it.

U.S. soldiers are not allowed to voice is their political opinion. In the privacy of bathroom stalls on military bases in Iraq and Kuwait, however, it is quite a different story. Out of the hundreds of bathroom stalls this photographer saw, he said he did not see one pro-Bush writing, This picture shows how strongly the soldiers feel towards bush. In some of the other pictures I saw, there were writings that said they believe Bush caused 9/11. These soldiers can't voice their opinion so they have a voice by writing it on their bathroom stalls.

“She took it during her one-month stint in Malawi Africa where she worked in orphan day-care centres. The photo was taken from the Mulanji Hospital four-wheel-drive ambulance, traveling to visit the sick who were unable to reach the hospital. This picture tells a story when you look at it. It shows a boy running towards the ambulance. He is joyful for the first time in a while and is happy to see someone trying to help.

Principles of Elements

Value.
This shows value by seeing the difference between dark and light. The surfers are very dark and the ocean and sky are very bright.

Unity.
This shows unity by how the car is orange and so are the two stripes on the pole next to it. The color orange unifies the picture all together and by being orange the picture becomes one.

Emphasis.
This shows emphasis by how the blue is on the black. The blue stands out because the ground is so black. Emphasis is something where the color stands out. In this picture i believe the blue stands out very much.

Movement.
This shows movement by how the football players are tackling each other. They are in mid-motion and this shows movement because they are physically moving.

Rule of thirds

Taken at the beach in Pacifica. The flower is to the right which classifies this picture in the category of "Rule of thirds". If the flower was centered it would look like a completely different picture.

Texture

Taken at a pool in the summer. It shows the texture of the ripples in the pool as well as the leaves that have fallen in the pool.

Porportion

Taken in Pacifica. This picture shows proportion because my feet and Henry's head are proportioned almost at an equal level.
